Thats a very good start Jessie, well done!! I really like the first, 4th and last picture! I think you can work good with them, my advice would be to maybe play a bit more with the exposure to both sides - while taking them but also in the editing. I would for example try to make the first picture even a bit more underexposed in lightroom or turn the blacks darker.
I like where you are headed with these images. Out of all of them, I find the picture of the curtain delicate and emotive. It's hard not to look at it and feel some sort of nostalgic warmth. You also have been doing a good job at going out in Carlisle and finding subjects that match the tonal requirements of the assignment. That being said, I agree with Julia, do not hold back from editing your set on Lightroom. I think that your images would benefit from being turned into black and white at the very least. The third image could be improved by making it harder for the viewer to discern what they are looking at. Trying turning down the exposure and adding a vignette perhaps.
Your second photograph is very strong! The movement in it makes it feel very whimsical. I also think the framing of the first photo works well. Your fifth photo with the electrical wires is a good start, but I think the white would be emphasized more if you cropped the building out of the left side. Nice work!
I really like your photos! I especially like the second white one. The sheerness of the curtain looks so cool. I really like how in your third black photo the subject is not in focus, it makes it different and emphasizes the black. I agree with Julia and Peter. I think some more editing could make these photos even stronger. I think increasing the contrast and the shadows and blacks in the first one and cloning out the white spots in the pipe would make it a little stronger.
